FAQs
Why talk to us?
Your feedback will help inform the decisions we make and guide the future of the City of Mitcham.
As your Council we are committed to working with you and our local communities and stakeholders to understand your needs and aspirations and to explore and find best fit solutions.
By talking to us you can help us understand how decisions, projects and proposals affect you.
We understand that people live busy lives and have many different competing priorities. We want to provide a range of opportunities for you to share your views and help us make decisions about things that affect you.
Your Say Mitcham is the engagement section of Council’s website where you can share your ideas and provide feedback on issues and projects that matter to you at a time that suits you.
Take the Quick Poll and tell us how you like to share your views and ideas.
What are the benefits of online engagement?
Online engagement is a quick, safe and convenient way to have your say on a range of issues and topics.
It is a great way to keep up to date and contribute your views on issues affecting your community.
You can see what other community members think about an issue or topic, and then respond with your own views.
You don't have to attend community meetings at a set place and time because you can contribute at a time and place that suits you.
It allows for a range of different people, with different views to discuss matters that impact on their community.
Why do we require registration to contribute to projects?
By registering on Your Say Mitcham you have a direct line to Council to make sure that your views on community issues and matters are heard.
Our challenge is to understand the range of perspectives in our diverse community. By registering and telling us a bit about yourself you help us understand our community better.
Registering on Your Say Mitcham is quick and simple with a few important questions that help us understand who is participating. By registering, we know that you are a real person with genuine responses and opinions. This promotes accountability and encourages people to provide more thoughtful responses because feedback can be attributed to them and helps us flag if someone is leaving multiple comments to support their own position.
Knowing a little more about who you are and how you use the City will ensure we get a higher quality of data to go along with your feedback. The data will help us target feedback from specific groups (e.g. age, gender) as well as from different areas of our City and in-turn will provide a richer and more valuable response to help Council make decisions.
Ever get tired of filling out your details every time you do a survey? When you register, your details will be stored. Next time you just log on and away you go, making it quicker and easier than ever to fill out the survey.
By registering we can also keep you updated on important project news, upcoming opportunities and how you can find more information on a range of issues and topics.
Most importantly it also means that we can let you know any news if something major changes about the consultation and we can let you know the outcomes of the project you have been interested in and how community comments have contributed to decision making and project outcomes.
Please note that your personal details remain private (please see our privacy frequently asked question).
What is my screen name?
Your screen name will appear with your comments in some of the tools that we use. When you register you can still comment anonymously by using a screen name that does not identify you. All other information provided to us is kept confidential and only used under the Terms and Conditions.
How can I submit feedback?
Your feedback can be submitted via Your Say Mitcham through online forums, quick polls and surveys relevant to each project currently open for consultation. To participate simply register on Your Say Mitcham.
Alternatively comments can be emailed to yoursay@mitchamcouncil.sa.gov.au or posted to

What happens to my feedback?
Your feedback is collated along with other comments, ideas and suggestions and is used to inform Council decisions. It will be used to develop various Council strategies, projects and programs. By participating you will help provide valuable insights into community views and opinions around different issues. This does not mean that every suggestion will be incorporated every time, but it will help us weigh up different options.
Online data is used alongside feedback collected through face to face consultation activities such as workshops, stakeholder group meetings and pop up events.
How is Your Say Mitcham moderated?
All moderation is carried out by our service provider Bang the Table and is independent to the City of Mitcham. The moderators do not edit or alter any comments and will only remove comments deemed to be significantly off topic, offensive or malicious, in which case they are removed from the site immediately. Bang the Table notify the contributor and explain the reasons for removing the comment. For further information we suggest you refer to the guidelines at the moderation tab in the menu bar at the bottom of the page.
