Consultation has concluded

Construction Update December 2023

An upgrade of Murtoa Road, Eden Hills to improve road safety and footpath connectivity has recently been completed.

A new footpath on the northern side of Murtoa Road connects Willora Road to Shepherds Hill Road, providing an important link for local residents.

A one-way driveway link has been added to reduce risks as this section of street was previously too narrow for two cars to safely pass each other.

Other elements include upgrades to stormwater infrastructure to direct stormwater flow to existing pits, installation of pedestrian fencing adjacent to slopes, and plantings of Correa Dusky Bells and Dianella Revoluta.

Background

The City of Mitcham invited feedback on the proposed new footpath at Murtoa Road, Eden Hills, along with improvements to the kerb and intersection at Willora Road.

Council proposed to install a footpath along the northern side of Murtoa Road to provide a link for residents from the existing footpath at Willora Road to Shepherds Hill Road.

To improve safety for road users, a narrow section of road would become a one-way link and line markings will be added to define the intersection of Murtoa and Willora Roads.

As part of these works Council proposes kerb upgrades along Murtoa Road to help direct stormwater to existing pits. Rollover kerb will be installed to ensure vehicles can pass and retain off-street parking.
