Yes the Karinya Reserve Community Hall will be available for the community to hire. 

The Karinya Reserve Community Hall will be available for hire via SpacetoCo, keep a look out on the SpacetoCo page for when the new community hall to becomes available.

The project is on track for completion by 30 July 2024.

A lease is a contractual agreement between the owner of an asset and someone (lessee) who wishes to use the asset and pay a fee for their use. A leased council building is not available for public use without permission of lessee and/ or Council at all times during the period of the lease.

A licence allows someone (licensee) to do, use or utilise something for a specified time. Outside of that time it can be used by others. For example, a licensed council oval or building (or a portion of an oval or building) can only be used by the licensee at specified agreed times, outside of those times it is available to the community to use.

This  Karinya Reserve Community Hall is on community land, in order to issue a lease or licence for more than 5 years on community land Council are required to comply with s 202 of the Local Government Act. Under s 202 of the Local Government Act 1999 a lease/licence that is consistent with the Community Land Management Plan (as is the case here) and for a period of more than 5 years Council must first follow the steps set out in its public consultation policy, which is involves seeking community feedback via this survey.
