FAQs
Will sections of the bikeway be shared between cars and cyclists?
Dorene Street will make up a section of the Flinders to City Bikeway. The bikeway is not a continuous bike path or bike lane, but the majority of the route is a shared roadway which provides a signed path for bikes that is off of main roads and joins these two hubs for the community. There are sections of the bikeway that contain a bike lane (bicycle use only) or a shared-use path (bicycle and pedestrian shared-use), which are present to encourage bicycle traffic to use the route and reduce vehicle speeds in the area.
There are bike lanes which will be emerald in colour next to the speed humps, these allow bikes to avoid using the speed humps but still allows the speed humps to be present for vehicles to reduce traffic speeds; other bike lanes in the project allow for entry and exit from the shared-use paths to support safe use of the bikeway.
Will the St Marys Park entrance be upgraded as part of this project?
Council is aware of water pooling at the entrance of St Marys Park during the wetter months.
As part of this project, the carpark off of the Quinlan Ave roundabout will be upgraded and will incorporate a permeable structure and an asphalt central lane, the modifications to the carpark should allow for the ponded water to infiltrate and reduce the issues on the site.
