Consultation Outcomes

We received a high volume of detailed responses, and we would like to thank all those who provided valuable feedback.

The evaluation of the responses received during the community consultation period identified a number of key concerns amongst the community;

  1. Traffic congestion/volume was the most mentioned traffic issue, followed by:
  2. Speeding
  3. Parking
  4. Pedestrian safety
  5. Road conditions
  6. Lighting

Issues raised have been reviewed by our Traffic and Transport team, who have proposed several actions. Please note that recommendations that require additional funding are subject to future Council consideration.

The actions proposed can be summarised as follows;

  • Projects will be submitted to upcoming Council budget considerations where applicable (2024/25 and beyond).
  • Feedback received will be incorporated into Council’s draft strategic transport document Moving Mitcham – Your Integrated Transport Plan which also includes a Cycling and Walking Strategy component.
  • Blackspot funding proposals will be considered and submitted where applicable.
  • Council will continue to advocate on behalf of the community and partner with the Department of Infrastructure and Transport to address traffic concerns on major arterial roads (Goodwood Road, Springbank Road).
  • Line marking improvements will be incorporated into future line marking programs where applicable.
  • Street lighting concerns will continue to be addressed through street lighting improvements and LED lighting upgrades throughout the area.
  • Council will continue to advocate on behalf of the community and partner with SA Police to address ongoing speeding issues and illegal behaviour.
  • Council’s Traffic and Transport team will continue to work closely with our Community Safety rangers to address illegal or dangerous parking.
  • Visibility issues will continue to be investigated as part of the ongoing traffic management program.
  • Concerns related to the condition of roads, footpaths and stormwater infrastructure will be forwarded to Council’s Assets team for consideration.
