Draft Community Land Management Plans - Stage 2 Community Consultation

Community land refers to parks, reserves and community facilities council holds for the benefit of the community. The City of Mitcham has over 250 individual parcels of land that are classified as community across several different categories, a single CLMP may cover one or more separate holdings of community land where similar management regimes are employed and comparable performance targets and measures are applicable. In most cases specific pieces of land that have similar uses and are held by Council for a similar purpose can be included in the same CLMP.

In March/April 2023 the City of Mitcham invited the community to provide feedback on the draft community land management plans for City of Mitcham.

The Community told us:

  • There needed to be greater detail in the objectives.
  • They wanted separation between some parcels of land to provide a more tailored approach, in particular for reserves.
  • How they used community land.
  • What they wanted for community land in the future.

Following this first stage of consultation and in reponse to community feedback changes were made to the original draft community land management plans (CLMPs) resulting in five of the draft CLMPs being amended and 12 new CLMPs being created by City of Mitcham to facilitate proper management and ongoing improvements to community land assets across the City of Mitcham.

Feedback is being sought to ensure all the draft CLMPs prepared by Council reflect the core values of the community and delivers a clear vision for the important role community land plays in building a healthy, connected community.

The CLMPs will provide a specific set of management directions catering to the suburb, its purpose, unique environment and users.

Consultation closed on August 20th 2023.
