Consultation Outcomes and Council Decision
We would like to express our gratitude to all participants who actively engaged in the Unencumbered Reserves in Colonel Light Gardens consultation. Your invaluable contributions through survey completions, emails, phone calls and written responses are highly appreciated.
The data gathered during the consultation phase was presented to the Full Council Meeting Tuesday 13 May 2025, along with ten (10) draft Community Land Management Plans. Those CLMPs were as follows:
- Colonel Light Gardens - Internal Reserves B
- Colonel Light Gardens - Hastings Road Drainage Reserve
- Colonel Light Gardens - Colonel Light Gardens Institute
- Colonel Light Gardens - Light Place Reserve and Bandstand
- Colonel Light Gardens - Kent Road Reserve
- Colonel Light Gardens - Doncaster Avenue Reserve
- Colonel Light Gardens - Internal Reserves A (Outdoor Court Facilities)
- Colonel Light Gardens - Entranceway Reserves
- Colonel Light Gardens - Hillview Reserve and Hall
- Colonel Light Gardens - Martlesham Crescent Reserve
All ten (10) Community Land Management Plans were adopted by Council unchanged. Following adoption, these CLMPs will replace any existing CLMPs for the parcel of Community Land they relate to. Updated versions of these CLMPs can be found on our website where you can also use the community land map to locate specific CLMPs.
We appreciate your commitment to this process and look forward to continuing our collaboration with the community as we move forward with discussions on future events across the City of Mitcham.
Consultation Round Two Information
We invited the community to provide feedback on proposed updates and amendments to several unencumbered reserve Community Land Management Plans (CLMPs) in Colonel Light Gardens. This was the second round of engagement on these CLMPs, following the Council’s resolution on 10 December 2024.
We asked the community to share their views on the amendments to the following CLMPs:
- Colonel Light Gardens – Internal Reserves A (Outdoor Court Facilities)
- Colonel Light Gardens – Internal Reserves B
- Colonel Light Gardens – Colonel Light Gardens Institute
- Colonel Light Gardens – Doncaster Avenue Reserve
- Colonel Light Gardens – Entranceway Reserves
- Colonel Light Gardens – Hillview Reserve and Hall
- Colonel Light Gardens – Kent Road Reserve
- Colonel Light Gardens – Light Place Reserve and Bandstand
- Colonel Light Gardens – Hastings Road Drainage Reserve
- Colonel Light Gardens – Martlesham Crescent Reserve
One major addition was the inclusion of a Heritage Objective across all CLMPs with the following overarching goal:
"To maintain the heritage significance of the land as part of a network of diverse public open spaces within the state heritage-listed area of Colonel Light Gardens.”

The draft Community Land Management Plans for Reserves in Colonel Light Gardens have been prepared to facilitate proper management and on going improvements to community land assets across the suburb.
